THE DECLINE OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY: INTERNAL CAUSES AND RECOVERY STRATEGIES

Abstract

Islam calls upon its followers to continuously promote progress in all aspects of life, whether in the worldly or hereafter domains. This progress, aspired by Islam, must align with the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah. The Muslim community is also revered as the 'Khair al-Ummah,' the best example for other communities to follow. However, various challenges have plagued the Muslim community, leading to their perceived lag behind non-Muslims, particularly in Western societies and others. Crises and uncertainties within Islamic nations, including conflicts, poverty, and regression, have portrayed the Muslim community as weak and underdeveloped. Hence, this article aims to identify the root causes of the current underdevelopment among Muslims and propose solutions to address these issues. The qualitative research method employed in this study collects data from articles and journals as information sources and subsequently analyzes them descriptively. The study reveals a multitude of issues faced by the Muslim community from various angles, with the proposed recovery strategies showing potential to overcome these challenges.
